The crossing from Switzerland into Austria marks the official start of the Austrian leg of the Peacewalk 2026. At the border post in Oberriet, the pilgrim’s staff is passed to the Austrian group in a shared ritual – with special guest Johannes Aschauer, founder of the Jerusalem Way as well as representatives of the Swiss and German support teams. Song marks the transition: a blessing on the Swiss side, a peace song on the Austrian. The group then walks on together through Rankweil and on to Bludesch. A moment that sets a long journey through Austria in motion – everyone is welcome to join for a stretch or simply bear witness.
